Sutnar Pebble Watchface

Can’t sleep. Why not build a Sutnar inspired watch face?

Ladislav Sutnar (1897–1976) did information design before that was a phrase— pamphlet covers, book jackets, geometric type, arrows and grids doing the work icons usually do. It’s impactful and it’s easy to riff on. Its minimalizm makes it simple to recreate with a few lines and boxes :)

A stack of Sutnar-designed pamphlets-- geometric covers in bold color blocks.
Cool kid czech stuff
The Sutnar watchface: black background, orange date wedge, large time digits, a staircase of ticks descending the right edge with one lit orange, and a segmented battery bar along the bottom.
My shameless copy

Sutnar is on the Pebble Appstore.
